Campbell Electric Motors & ABB Win Significant Middle Eastern Motor Project

Campbell Electric Motors and ABB win significant Motor Project in the Middle East.

When a large Irish based International OEM received a tender for a Middle-Eastern petrochemical project. the pressure was on to deliver the project on time, on budget and meeting full specification. The project involved 57 motors with varying powers and speeds, all the motors were running at a non-standard voltage/ Frequency and were heavily modified to include: -

  • Special Paint Colour
  • Dual Gas & Dust Group ratings
  • Ingress Protection upgrade
  • Routine Test Report
  • Bearing Temperature Monitoring

Campbell Electric Motors, with their extensive experience in the electric motor business were swiftly able to interpret the customer needs, advise on the ATEX classifications available and what it covered, determine the variant codes and check best availability with the ABB on-line ordering system, all the necessary drawings, data sheets and accompanying quotations were generated in a couple of days with the original equipment manufacturer’s tender submitted well within the dead-line. Campbell electric motor staff have many years experience in the sizing and pricing of motor tenders and this ensures the customer can be safe in the knowledge they are not only getting the best quality product but as an Authorised Value Provider the full back up of the ABB organisation locally. The project involved dual dust and gas group upgrades and also a second nameplate with additional application information.

The order was placed for 57 motors with delivery required within 9 weeks, ABB were able to fulfil this order through their European central stores in Menden, Germany, with over 10,000 items in stock delivery within 2-72 Hours and modifications in 24 hours, this ensures ABB are strategically placed to deliver every time.

The project then took a twist, the end user had to re-calculate the capacity of the plant and it was found that a significant upgrade to the main feed pump was also going to be needed to ensure continuity of supply for the processing plant, Campbell Electric Motors and ABB were chosen based on the quality product and service on phase 1 of the project.

Phase 2 involved a single heavily modified electric motor with significantly more variant codes to meet strict on-site requirements, this motor was delivered within 10 weeks of ordering and well within the required 14 weeks lead time on the pump. Campbell electric motors are happy to help with the sizing and advise on the ATEX classification for various projects, our staff undergo regular training in standard safe area high efficiency motors and also electric motors for ATEX environments so please do not hesitate to contact us.
